Wine Tasting

Aloha Grapes Gang –

Hold the presses!  Hold your tongues!  Grapes will be having wine tastings on Thursday, 12/20/2018 and Grapes’s annual sparkling/Champagne tasting on Thursday, 12/27/2018!

This Thursday’s tasting will feature all red wines and will warm you up during this chilly weather we’ve been having.

Looking forward to seeing you this Thursday!  Randy

Wine Tasting Reds:

Massaria, Li Veli Passamento, Salice Salentino, Puglia, Italy ($15 per bottle) –

Oh, this is a lovely wine made from the Negroamaro grape varietal.  Hailing from the heel of the Italian boot, the wine is alive with red plum and cherry flavors, garden herbs and verve.  Wonderful alone, the wine will sing with pasta with red sauce.

Sean Minor, 4-Bears Cabernet Sauvignon, CA ($14 per bottle) –

A great effort by Sean Minor, 4-Bears Cab has tasty black plum, blackberry flavors, good balance and a smooth finish.  I wouldn’t feel ashamed bringing this wine to a party.  Would pair well with Teriyaki meat.

Ryder Estate Pinot Noir, Monterey, CA ($16 per bottle) –

This is one of Grapes’s turkey wines that I was able to get more of.  Produced by the Scheid family, their wine has wonderful flavors of red cherries, pomegranates and plums with spice.  It’s a steal at $16!

District 7 Estate Pinot Noir, Monterey, CA ($17 per bottle) –

Another great wine which Grapes’s introduced during Thanksgiving.  District 7, like Ryder, is from the Scheid family of Monterey.  A little heavier in weight, the wine shows balanced red cherry fruit with spice on the finish.  Marvelous example of Pinot Noir from Monterey.

Torbreck, Woodcutter’s Shiraz, Barossa Valley, Australia ($21 per bottle) –

A great wine from Torbreck!  Their Woodcutter’s Shiraz shows robust black fruit and spice on the finish.  Round and balanced, the wine would pair well with BBQed meats.

Vina Cobos, “Cocodrillo” Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza Valley, Argentina ($24 per bottle) –

An effort by Paul Hobbs, Cocodrillo is produced in the Bordeaux style.  It shows marvelous black currants, blackberries, plums and spice with good balance.  Its finish is dry with good length.
