Wine Tasting Rose:
Anne Delaroche, Cotes du Rhone Rose, France ($13 per bottle) –
A blend of Syrah and Grenache, Delaroche’s rose has clean flavors of strawberries, pomegranate and red plums on a refreshing finish. Perfect for the afternoon or with a light summer salad.
Wine Tasting Reds:
Little James’ Basket Press, Grenache, Vin de France ($16 per bottle) –
The Basket Press is filled with ripe blackberry flavors with a touch of thyme and spice. Should be open for several hours, since it tasted best the following day. Served slightly chilled, the wine works well with tomato sauce based food or try it with French fries!
Masciarelli, Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, DOC, Italy ($13 per bottle) –
A great food wine. Shows a lot of red fruit with a dusty cherry finish. Light and easy to drink, taste this with hard cheeses, a crusty loaf of bread and hard salami. Simply wonderful.
Jaboulet, 2015 Biographie, Cotes du Rhone, France ($15.00 per bottle) –
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, Jaboulet’s 2015 Biographie begins his quest to be totally organic, and by 2016 all of his wines will be certified as organic. The wine shows black fruit, violets with blackberries, rosemary, smoke, earth with soft tannins on the finish. Definitely a food wine, try this with grilled lamb chops.
Castello Di Albola, Chianti Classico, DOCG, Tuscany ($16 per bottle) –
From the rolling hills of the Classico region of Chianti, this 100% Sangiovese shows wonderful cherry flavors backed up with soft oak, garden herbs, anise on a medium frame. Eggplant parmesan with a tangy tomato sauce would be great.
