Aloha Grapes Gang —

Yes! As I write this newsletter and look down at my backyard, I see a bright sunny day with soft trade winds blowing through our Ohia trees. Nice... very nice.

To keep this good cheer going, Grapes is offering a great line-up of wines for you this Thursday. We'll be tasting the new vintage of Frisk Riesling, as well as Honoro Vera's Garnacha, Ramirez's Crianza from Rioja, Spain and for you Cab lover's – Uppercut.

It's going to be a great tasting! Looking forward to seeing you and your friends

Frisk, Prickly Riesling, Victoria, Australia ($12 per bottle) –
This is definitely not your ordinary Riesling. Besides being light and refreshing with crisp green apple notes, Frisk is effervescent. I wouldn't consider it to be sweet like other Rieslings, too. Frisk would be great on a warm summer day with chilled crab and a crusty loaf of bread.

Bodegas Atteca, Honoro Vera, Garnacha, Calatayud, Spain ($8 per bottle) –
A great wine from Bodegas Atteca. The vines yield small bunches in elevations ranging from 700 – 1,000 meters above sea level. Honoro Vera is a great table wine showing raspberry blackberry flavors with nice minerals on the finish. Great for a Sunday afternoon BBQ.

Ramirez de la Piscina, Crianza, Rioja, Spain ($15 per bottle) –
Big and brawny, Ramirez's Crianza comes from the region of Rioja. It shows black cherry, plum, leather with cedar oak on the finish. Tannins are soft and give the wine structure and presence. Ramirez would pair well with lamb stew.

Uppercut, Cabernet Sauvigon, Napa Valley, CA ($18 per bottle) –
A great Cab with grapes coming from Provenance and Sterling vineyards in Napa with half coming from Rutherford. Super smooth and velvety, Uppercut shows deep flavors of black currant, blackberries, plum and chocolate. This wine would be perfect after you've done the dishes sitting around with your better-half talking about the future.

A wine tasting service fee of $5.00 per person will be assessed at the door. This service fee will be discounted off of any bottle purchased at the wine tasting. Thank you for your understanding.
