Aloha Grapes Gang —

I was writing Grapes's newsletter Sunday morning when I saw the sun! There it was in all of its glory and I didn’t know what to do. Hopefully it will be around for a while... hopefully. At least I'll be able to see all of your smiley faces this Thursday, plus we have some great wines to taste, too.

Looking forward to seeing you and your friends

WINE TASTING WHITES:

Masciarelli Trebbiano D'Abruzzo, Abruzzo, Italia ($13 per bottle) –
An excellent example of the Trebbiano grape varietal from Abruzzo, Italy. Easy on the palate with light apple, pear and lemon flavors. Refreshing and versatile with lighter foods, Mascarelli's Trebbiano will be a delight for any occasion.

Bodegas Volver, Paso a Paso, Organic Blanco, La Mancha, Spain ($11 per bottle) –
Yummy flavors of lemon and grapefruit with a refreshing finish of melon makes Volver’s Paso a Paso Organic Blanco (white) easy to pair with shrimp and crab. It is a blend of Verdejo and Viura.

WINE TASTING REDS:

Marietta Cellars, OVR Lot #66, CA. ($13 per bottle) –
Marietta's OVR (Old Vine Red) has great flavors of blackberries, plums, anise, pepper and sweet cherry pipe tobacco. A multi-vintage blend, it contains Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Carignan. OVR would be great with BBQ pork ribs.

Jaboulet, Cotes du Rhone, Parallel 45, Tain L'Hermitage, France ($16 per bottle) –
Named after the 45th parallel which runs close to Jaboulet's cellar in Tain L'Hermitage, the wine is a blend of Grenache and Syrah and shows wonderful dark fruit such as blackberries, plums with spice on the finish. It's very delicious and would pair well with baked ham.

LAST WORD:
A wine tasting service fee of $5.00 per person will be assessed at the door. This service fee will be discounted off of any bottle purchased at the wine tasting. Thank you for your understanding.
