Wine Tasting Sparkler –

Terre dei Buth, Frizzante Rose – Special Cuvee (NV), Veneto, Italy ($15 per bottle) –

For you organic and vegan wine lovers, Terre dei Buth’s rose is meant for you.  Made of 90% Glera and 10% Raboso grape varietals, this fizzy wine is perfect for summer showing marvelous fresh red berry flavors with a smooth refreshing finish.

Wine Tasting Whites –

Short Street, 2018 Chenin Blanc, Western Cape-Swartland, South Africa ($16 per bottle) –

This was the crowd favorite at our tasting.  100% Chenin Blanc, aged for 3-6 months in French oak, the wine has terrific aromas of apples, limes, pears with flavors of tropical fruits.  The wine shows considerable depth because of the integration of oak.  Very nice!

Chavey-Chouet, Bourgogne Blanc, Les Femelottes, Bourgogne, France ($28.00 per bottle) –

The Chavey-Chouet’s vineyard parcels are adjacent to Puligny-Montrachet with vines that are 15-60 years old.  The wine shows apple, lemon and lime peel with good acidity on the finish.  Like a mini Puligny-Montrachet at a fire sale.

Wine Tasting Reds –

Val de Cua, 2016 Mencia, Bierzo, Spain ($16 per bottle) –

Made from the Mencia grape varietal, the tasting panel came up with comments like: the wine shows minerals like pomace, brown leather, wet rock, blackberries, tobacco, and garden herbs.  Most excellent for BBQs!

Grand Venuer Cote de Rhone Les Champauvins, Cote du Rhone, France ($23 per bottle) –

From a single vineyard 3 meters from Chateauneuf Du Pape’s border, Grand Venuer is composed of 70% Granache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.  The wine has heady flavors of raspberries, blackberries, spices, black peppers and licorice.  Not bashful in showing off its terroir.  A great wine with a great price!
